Privacy Policy
This page says what carloscalle.com collects, why, and who handles it. The short version: if you subscribe, I keep your email address to send you the newsletter. The site collects nothing else about you.
Who this is.
carloscalle.com is the personal site of Carlos Calle, based in Texas, United States. I am the person responsible for the data described on this page. For any privacy request, email hello@carloscalle.com.
What gets collected.
- Your email address, when you submit a subscribe form. The form also records which form you used (the homepage, the footer or an article), stored as a tag on your subscription.
- Request data held by the host. Every visit to any website sends technical details with each request: your IP address, your browser and device type, the page you asked for, the time, and the page you came from. Netlify, which hosts this site, receives those details to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. I do not add analytics to this data or use it to follow you around the site.
That is the complete list.
What does not get collected.
- No analytics and no tracking scripts.
- No cookies. The site sets none.
- No advertising, no tracking pixels and no social media widgets.
- No accounts, no passwords and no payments.
- No profile built about you, and no data sold or traded.
- Fonts, images and code all load from this site. Reading a page does not make your browser contact any other company.
Why.
To send you the newsletter you asked for. Your email address is not used for anything else.
Who processes it.
Two companies handle data on my behalf, as processors:
- Kit (kit.com) stores subscriber email addresses and sends the newsletter. Kit's privacy policy.
- Netlify (netlify.com) hosts the site and receives the request data described above. Netlify's privacy policy.
Both are based in the United States, which means your data is stored and processed there.
Cookies and local storage.
This site sets no cookies.
It stores one thing in your own browser. If you click the light and dark mode button, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage under the name theme, with the value light or dark. It is not a cookie, it never leaves your browser, and it is never sent to me or to anyone else. Clearing your browser's data for this site removes it.
How long it is kept.
Unsubscribing stops all email immediately. On request, I delete your address entirely.
Request data is kept by Netlify under its own policy, linked above.
Your rights.
- Access. Email me and I will tell you what I hold about you, which is at most your email address and the form you signed up from.
- Correction. Email me the right address and I will update it.
- Deletion. Email me and I will delete your address.
- Unsubscribe. Use the link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or email me.
I answer every request within 30 days.
GDPR.
If you are in the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, the General Data Protection Regulation gives you the rights above. The legal basis for using your email address is your consent, given when you submit the form. You can withdraw that consent at any time by unsubscribing or by emailing me. Withdrawing does not affect anything sent before you did.
The request data the host receives is processed on the basis of legitimate interest: a website cannot be delivered or protected without it.
If you think your data has been mishandled, you have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country.
CCPA.
I am based in the United States. If you live in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act gives you the right to know what personal information I hold about you and the right to have it deleted. Email me to use either one. I do not sell personal information, I do not share it for advertising, and using these rights changes nothing about how you are treated.
Children.
This site is not directed at anyone under 16, and I do not knowingly collect their email addresses. If you think a child has subscribed, email me and I will delete the address.
Changes.
When this policy changes, the new version goes on this page and the date at the top changes with it.
